During this year IDSA introduced a new course, the Case Study Competition. It was a one day event where applicants were randomly teamed to solve an international crisis such as the civil war in Yemen or the social crisis in Venezuela. Each team had to find a short and a long term solution from different angles according to views of the unvved political parties. They had limited timeframe to come up with an action plan so this was not just a case solving competition but a crisis management course too. At the and of the day they presented their solutions to a panel of judges. Competitors were able to practice skills like work under pressure, teamwork and public speaking.
