SzeMUN memories

Between the 4th and 8th of October, I had the pleasure of participating in the Szeged Model United Nations Conference as a delegate of Germany in the Economic and Social Council. This was my first time as a delegate, as previously, I had only participated in one MUN conference, MUNAPEST 2017, in which I was a member of the Press Team. While I was initially nervous as a first-timer, my fears were soon assuaged once the conference began. The organisers were friendly and efficient, ensuring that everything ran smoothly and according to schedule, easily overcoming any problems that came up. The delegates were a professional and diverse crowd, coming from all over Europe, clearly well-prepared in their given topic. Many of us were beginners, and while initially, that made us hesitant to speak up, we soon got into the flow of things, resulting in a dynamic, and often entertaining debate.

During the evenings various social events were held, ranging from an elaborate dinner by the River Tisza, to several club nights out. These events gave us a chance to let off some steam, and to get to know the members of the other delegations.

All in all, it was a wonderful experience, and I greatly look forward to participating in SZEMUN in 2018!
