Shadowing in the UN was one of the most interesting and informative experiences during my studies. I was granted a rare opportunity to get a first-hand insight into the work of the colleagues of the Preparatory Commission of the CTBTO, an organization which operates a global system of monitoring stations against nuclear tests. It was a real pleasure to see the work of people with very different ethnic, national or cultural roots closely related to each other and cooperating in the greatest harmony. From them, one can also learn about the various paths that one can take to end up working in an international organization. With all the knowledge and motivation that I came across during the programme, I can only wholeheartedly recommend any eligible fellow students interested in the work of UN to apply for Shadowing. It is an opportunity you wouldn’t want to miss.
